Studica is a mobile platform that helps African students to get enrolled into American schools.

The Problem

African students were looking forward to easily connecting to colleges and universities in the USA. For some reasons, it’s been a tough process for those students to get enrolled into US Schools programs.

The Solution

Building a mobile platform that will help African students easily connect with American schools based on their interests and preferred majors.

Primary Research

In order to understand the challenges and experiences faced by African students who are already in the United Stated and those who are still in Africa and are currently on the process of becoming international students to one of the schools in the United Stated. The team and I conducted six interviews.

In a few words, how do you think the process of becoming a USA international student can be improved

Interview outcomes

After conducting six interviews, we collected important information on their application process. Below are the outcomes gathered from the interview.

"It’s difficult to navigate through a croweded website, I won’t be able to search for schools when there are overwhelm information"

"It's been hard for me on my application, first of fall: I don't speak english, there is a lot of information on the schools websites and I haven't been able to speak with an advisor etc...

“The opportunity to have access to the best educational system in the world motivates me to become international student in the US.”

"Create a platform that have a list of schools in the usa will be one of the great idea to improved the process of becoming a USA international student."

"I heard from my friends that applying for schools in the USA it's a though process. I just had my parents do everything"

"I had a friend who help me with the application process which made it easier for me to become an international student in the United States"

There are such as great feedback we gathered from the students during the interview process, based the data collected, we were able to understand their motivations and pain points that the faced. During the interviews, we discovered that quality education, unique curriculum, multicultural environment, and abundant opportunities are just some of the reasons why many African students want to study in the US.

Africans students struggle to get informed about America schools that they were willing to apply because of overwhelmed information, lack of guidance and language barrier.

Analysis

Data Survey

There were several questions we asked to African Students who were willing to continue with their high education in the schools in the United States. In one of those, we procceded with one for the Data Survey analysis chart. How often do you apply for school in the USA ?

Why did we decide to pick the question of : How often do you apply for school in the USA in all listed ? Because It clearly tells or informs us about African student's motivations and ambitions to become international stdents in United States.

We can conclude that our collected data indicates that more than 28.6% students apply to American Colleges & Universities at least once per week.

Competitor Analysis

We thought about conducting a competitor analysis in hope to understand our competitors' strengths and weaknesses in comparison to redesign a beautifil platform.

Problem statement

It’s been seen and heard from African students who passionately have ambitions to pursue their higher education in one of the schools in the United States, due to the difficulties encountered when searching for schools, it makes it almost impossible for them to procced with their application process.

How might we help African Students who need to achieve their academic goals to become international students in the United States?
